The Initial Assessment is a consultation designed for both the student and the teacher and is required for all new students. Usually a 30-minute session, the Initial Assessment allows the student to demonstrate their currently playing ability and musical knowledge, if applicable. This allows the student and parent to experience a mock piano lesson, and how future lessons will be taught.
This time can be used to answer any questions about the program, such as discuss enrollment options, and review the Studio Policy. Additionally, I might inquire on the student's goals and motives for playing piano, which will help me develop a scope and sequence specifically designed for the student.
There is no commitment to enroll when you participate in the Initial Assessment, and is usually a $15 fee.
Registration will take place through the Registration Form linked below. Select which lesson slot works best for you and we'll be in touch!
Once you've completed your Initial Assessment, you're eligible to enroll! Click below to complete our enrollment form and you'll be all set for the coming year!
**If this is your initial enrollment, your $15 Initial Assessment fee will applied to your first bill**

Annual tuition is based on a 30-week schedule and billed over 9 months; summer lessons are billed separately, based on an 8-week schedule, and billed over 2 months. Students beginning lessons after the start of the academic year will be charged pro-rated tuition based on the number of weeks left in the academic year. Specific pricing will be discussed at the Initial Assessment.
During the school year, my availability varies depending on the day. I try to stick to business hours of 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday. For a detailed breakdown of my availability, just fill out the Registration Form, and you will see my available times! The open slots reflect my availability between classes at FSU, as well as currently booked lessons with enrolled students. I try to be flexible as possible, so if the current times do not seem to work, I am willing to accommodate.
My private studio is located in Tallahassee, Florida near the Aenon Church Road and Blountstown Highway intersection, about 10 minutes from the Tallahassee International Airport. Once an Initial Assessment has been scheduled, I will provide the studio address. I can also teach on the Florida State University campus, pending space availability.
I primarily use Faber's Piano Adventures for my method books. However, I tend to streamline my methods to the student's goals or advancement level. As student proficiency levels advance, I may transition to a more repertoire-based approach.
